About Valentina

I belong to three continents: Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, of a French father and Japanese mother, I was raised in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, and schooled by the nuns of Sainte-Marie de Neuilly. When I was fifteen and my family moved back to Tokyo, I switched my primary language from French to English and began to learn Japanese. I graduated from the International School of the Sacred Heart and went on to Sophia University, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Literature.

The next chapter of my life took place in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There, I earned my Master’s and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at Harvard University, where I taught French and French literature as a Teaching Fellow, and lived at Quincy House as a Resident Tutor. My professional life as an educator, editor, and management consultant has unfolded in various parts of the U.S.: Boston, the Midwest, New Jersey, and finally, New York City, where I’ve just completed my first full-length work of fiction and now reside.
